What are the risks of taking sleeping pills that are currently on the market?
Some sleeping pills can be habit forming. Some can cause insomnia to worsen after they are stopped (rebound insomnia). Some help the patient to fall asleep but can have side effects of drowsiness in the morning because their effects last a long time (eight hours or more). Side effects are common with most sleeping pills. Drugs to help with sleep should be taken for only a short time and should be used only while in a doctor’s care.
