What are the risks of Oxycontin® addiction during pregnancy?
When used as directed, the pregnancy risks associated with Oxycontin® are minimal – according to the American Pregnancy Association, Oxycontin® has shown no evidence of risk in humans during well-controlled studies of pregnant women. There is still some remote chance of harm to the fetus, however. When Oxycontin® is abused by pregnant women, the risks become more severe. That Oxycontin® addiction leads to chemical dependence, and should the expectant mother stop taking the pills, severe withdrawal symptoms could lead to miscarriage.
