What are the risks of forwarding my GrizMail account?
UM is confident that email messages sent within the University arrive at their destination and show up in the inbox of the recipient. UM is less confident that email sent outside the University actually arrives and can be read by the individual. When you forward your email from GrizMail to another account UM cannot guarantee delivery of the mail, and you are at the risk of not receiving important information about registration, tuition and fees notifications, and urgent communication from President Dennison and the UM administration for which you remain responsible and accountable. The sometimes unpredictable nature of the Internet, spam filters, lack of storage space, are all factors which decrease our confidence that email will arrive as expected. For example some vendors have current practices that allow the blocking of all email from a domain to all users of that service regardless of the validity of the message (i.e. AOL, Yahoo).
