Donating a kidney has many of the same risks as any major operation. All donors experience some pain and discomfort after the surgery. In some cases, people develop infections or bleeding that have to be treated.Most donors report having a very positive experience, but for some, there can be negative psychological consequences. Donors are screened carefully to make sure they dont feel pressured to donate. In rare cases, when the donated kidney is rejected, donors can sometimes feel guilty or resentful that the transplant was not a success.
