What are the risk factors of laser tattoo removal?
You need a consultation before we can treat you. You should follow our advice before and after your laser treatment. Laser treatments are invasive and there are predictable and possibly uncomfortable side effects. We will explain these more fully during your consultation. Laser tattoo removal does not work on all tattoo colours. After each treatment, as the treatment area settles down, there is usually temporary crusting of the skin and possibly some local bleeding. Crusting and bleeding require a normal healing period of one to two weeks. There is a small risk of scarring. You may need between 6-12 treatments before your tattoo fades enough to be satisfactory and individual results can vary. After a series of treatments a small shadow may remain which is too faint to respond to further treatment. There is a small risk that tattoo colours change during laser treatment and therefore become less responsive to future treatment.
