What are the responsibilities of SQA in a mature organization?
In a mature organization the focus of SQA will be less on auditing for compliance because the processes will be more institutionalized and followed on a regular basis. However, even in a mature organization persons that are new to the organization may still need initial coaching and auditing. As the need for audits becomes less necessary, the SQA function is likely to begin focusing more time on measurements of the processes, identifying trends and bottlenecks, and making recommendations for improvements based on measurement information and their experiences with their assigned projects. These activities can help the projects and the organization move toward satisfying the CMM Level 4 KPAs: Software Quality Management and Quantitative Process Management.
