What are the responsibilities of parents/guardians?
The GED program is such a departure from traditional high school that parents and guardians should be aware and understand the difference and how it will affect their student. The GED tests are set at 10th grade level for reading, writing, and mathematics. Parents/guardians understand that students should perform at or near that grade level to pass the 5 exams. The intent of the SER GED Program is to bring capable and willing students to that level of performance. Parents/guardians of students performing well below grade level should expect that private tutoring and/or homework may be necessary. Parents/guardians should be aware that there may be a need for more than a year of GED instruction. Parents/guardians agree that the student be on time and attend class Monday through Thursday. If late, students will not be allowed into class unless they contact their teacher prior to coming to class. Parents/guardians understand that student jobs will not interfere with the class schedule.
