What are the responsibilities of employers regarding work functions where alcohol is served?
The Australian Alcohol Gudelines suggest that if alcohol is to be consumed at work sponsored events, this should include: • actively promoting responsible drinking • suggesting and providing alternative drinks to alcohol • try to make sure that people being served alcohol do not become intoxicated • refusing to serve alcohol to people who are intoxicated • looking for ways to reduce possible causes of harm in the setting and • closely supervising or monitoring young people.
