What are the responsibilities of a volunteer facilitator?
Responsibilities could range from arranging transport or meeting venues, to helping to plan and organise outings, as well as helping the Group Chair, Treasurer or Secretary to develop their role. Volunteers are vital to the work that we do. Sometimes Speakability has been able to start a new group because a volunteer has come forward in an area where no support exists. What skills and experience does a volunteer facilitator need? Volunteer facilitators must be good listeners with clear speech. They need to be open and friendly, with the ability to relate to people in a non-judgemental manner. Good organisational and administrative skills may also be useful. Volunteers also need an understanding of the voluntary sector, disability and Aphasia. Speakability can provide training and on-going support. What is the time commitment?
