What are the responsibilities for a group that adopts following a disaster?
When disaster is imminent, it is important to contact the community to find out if there is a need for assistance with to ensure their community is prepared. Following a disaster, the primary responsibility of the adopter is to check on all residents of the community and ensure that any urgent needs identified are addressed. There are established entities that will handle everything from food to transportation to medical needs. It is the responsibility of the adopter to identify the needs and connect the resident to the appropriate community resource. Activities following a disaster will vary.
