What are the requirements?
There are three basic requirements for learning to fly powered airplanes in Canada. • You have to be at least 14 years old. • You have to be in good health. • You have to be able to read, speak, and understand English. You can apply for a student pilot permit if you are at least 14 years old. When you are 16 you can apply for a Recreational Pilot Permit; and when you are 17 you may apply for the Private Pilot Licence. There is no maximum age limit because it’s health and not age that determines a person’s ability to fly well. Transport Canada requires everyone who wants to be a Private Pilot to pass a routine medical exam every two or five years, depending on your age (more frequently for the medical required for the Commercial Pilot Licence). This requirement ensures that pilots do not have medical problems that could interfere with their ability to fly safely. Allowances are made for many physical limitations. For example, glasses and contact lenses are perfectly acceptable. The phys
Training to become an esthetician takes an average of 300 hours, but this will vary based on state requirements. Take a look at our state license requirements page to find out more. We recommend you contact the licensing department for the state you’re interested in to verify if there have been any changes in programs or required hours. Students must also pass a state license exam at the completion of their course. If you are looking to move into the medical esthetics field, additional advanced courses are required, and a paramedical esthetician license exam must be passed as well.
Most beauty and cosmetology schools require a high school diploma or its equivalent, but check with the state in which you plan to enroll to be sure. Most courses are offered on a full- or part-time basis, and an average of 1500 hours is usually needed to complete a basic cosmetology course, but this depends on where you attend school. Take a look at our state license requirements page to find out more. We recommend you contact the licensing department for the state you’re interested in to verify if there have been any changes in programs or required hours.
Medical Fitness In most countries there are some requirements for medical fitness. These are seldom very prohibitive but make sure you know what they are for the country you’re in. In the USA, all skydivers must meet the USPA’s Basic Safety Requirements for medical fitness. This simply means you have to be in good health and physical condition to skydive and should not be on medication which could affect judgment or performance. Some medical conditions can be properly managed if the instructor knows about them. Make sure to mention any heart conditions or episodes of black-outs. If you have recently gone SCUBA diving or donated blood, you may have to wait a few days. When in doubt, ask your doctor and mention it to your instructor. It’s not ten pin bowling!
