What are the requirements to take the GED test?
You must be a resident of Illinois, 18 years of age, your high school class must have graduated, and a have form of ID. In certain circumstances, a person can be younger if the GED test is court ordered or they are a single parent. There is a $35.00 fee to take the test. The test has 5 parts – Writing, Social Studies, Literature, Math, and Science. You must also pass the State and Federal Constitution.
The state of California requires for persons taking the test to be 18 years of age or older (if the candidate is 17 years old, special circumstances are required). Eligibility requirements are listed on the state website at http://www.cde.ca.gov/ged. One of the following forms of identification will be required at the time of pre-registration and prior to each test: DMV issued I.D. or driver’s license, military or government issued, I.D., or any foreign government I.D.
