What are the requirements to become a notary?
Applicants must meet the following requirements: • All applicants must be at least 18 years of age. • All applicants must be a legal California resident. • All applicants must complete a written exam as prescribed by the Secretary of State with a score of 70% or better. • All applicants must pass a background check. • All applicants must be able to read, write and understand English. • All applicants are required to complete a 6-hour course of study through a State approved vendor.
