What are the requirements to be approved as a CAMO?
To be approved as a CAMO, an organisation must have office facilities and equipment, access to appropriate instructions for continuing airworthiness and qualified personnel that are essential to carry out continuing airworthiness management activities. They must also have an exposition that sets out the process and procedures the organisation and its employees will work to in meeting their obligations under the regulations. The requirements for facilities, equipment and personnel are included in the Part 42 MOS. Part 42 Subpart G contains administrative requirements for initial approval and subsequent changes to an approval as a CAMO. Can the holder of a CAMO approval also hold a Part 145 approval? Yes if the applicant meets the requirements for both approvals. However, the organisation (CAMO) that manages the continuing airworthiness of a specific aircraft must be independent from the organisation (Part 145) that actually maintains the aircraft.
