What are the requirements to be a vet?
I live in Colorado. We have CSU, which has one of the best vet schools in the country, if not the best vet school. So, I will tell you what their requirments are. It may be different for other schools (there are only 26 Vet Schools in the country). CSU’s vet department requires a bachelors degree (technical 60 credit hours) to be accepted. That is roughly 4 years, but it can be done in shorter time depending on how much schooling you do. They usually prefer a degree that will help in the field (biology or phsycology are big ones). Only 1 in 3 applicants are accepted, so it is a tough field. They also prefer (almost require) a lot of volunteer time. So get out in the shelters or a vets office or something and volunteer. And it’s not just animals, you work with people, A LOT. Animals can’t talk, their owners have to. So they also highly desire (and almost require) doing a lot of volunteer work with people. So get out in the nursing homes, or do a big brother/big sister volunteer event. M
