When we recruited for Police Officer in 2007, the minimum qualifications were as follows (these are subject to change for future recruiting efforts): • Not less than 21 years of age as of date of filing application • Vision correctable to 20/20; normal color vision and normal hearing • 12th grade reading and writing proficiency • Bachelor Degree or Associate’s Degree in any field , or a minimum of 60 credit hours or 90 semester hours, for an accredited college or university. Recent sworn Police Officer experience (within 5 years) may be substituted for years of college on a year for year basis. One year of recent satisfactory experience as a City of Troy Police Service Aide may be substituted for up to one year of college (30 credit hours). Experience in military police, private security, campus security and/or reserves will not be considered.
