What are the requirements to be a Big Brother or a Big Sister?
Big Brothers and Big Sisters come from all walks of life. They are volunteers – teens through retirees – with a wide variety of personalities and interests. Volunteers are willing to spend time with a child and share some of the simple day-to-day experiences in life. Prospective volunteers complete an application, legal and driver’s license background reviews, and provide character references. They also attend an orientation and interview to discuss interests and personal preferences that are taken into consideration to help make the match successful. A professional staff person oversees the process from enrollment through the life of the match, providing support and guidance. What type of activities do you offer for your matches? Volunteers make arrangements one-on-one with their Littles (and the parent/guardian) at times that are convenient for everyone.
