What are the requirements I need to become a 911 Dispatcher?
You need to be able to multi-task; to be able to communicate well on several media types including radio, phone, and computer at the same time without becoming frustrated or lose your composure. You need to be able to learn codes and speak with them. You need to be able to remain calm no matter what is going on around you or what you hear over the phone. You need to be able to think on your feet, handle stress well, and be a “people person”. It is a job that I respect highly. It takes a special person to be able to do this job.
