What are the requirements for the installation of a fence?
A permit is required for all fences and walls within the city. The first step would be the filing of a building permit application along with three (3) copies of your Plat of Survey indicting where the fence will be placed and the location of any public utility equipment (switch, transformer etc.) that may be located along the property lines. The property owner (s) will then be required to fill out and sign an Affidavit wherein they agree to correct any/all drainage issues that arise out of the construction of the fence. There are certain height restrictions depending on the yard in which the fence/wall will be constructed. In addition, the “finished” side of the fence is required to face the adjoining properties. There is a flat fee of $30.00 for any fence permit.
