What are the requirements for registration when the thesis or dissertation defense takes place?
Candidates must register for at least 3 credit hours per semester from the time of formal admission to a graduate program until all requirements for the degree, including the final oral examination, are completed. Candidates must meet this registration requirement unless they have an official leave of absence. In essence, you must be registered for three credit hours during the semester you defend. You should pay particular attention to the dates of semesters because if you defend a week after spring semester and you are registered for spring semester, you will need to add another three credit hours for the summer.
