Maryland law requires local jurisdictions to publish notice of the location of all unmanned stationary ASE systems on its website and in a newspaper of general circulation in the jurisdiction. In addition, the signs that designate the school zone must also indicate that photo enforcement is in use in that school zone. Refer to SHA’s Guidelines for Automated Speed Enforcement (ASE) Systems in School Zones (PDF, 682kb) and the Maryland Manual on Uniform Traffic Control Devices (MdMUTCD) for additional details on School Zone and Photo Enforced signing.
