What are the requirements for importing sperm from outside Canada?
Until the licensing scheme and regulations relating to the controlled activity of importation are in place, section71 of the Act permits those persons who have imported sperm at least once between April22, 2003 and April22, 2004 to continue to undertake that controlled activity until a day fixed by the regulations. Importers of third-party donor semen must also comply with the requirements of the Semen Regulations under the Food and Drugs Act.
