What are the requirements for First Nations people not to be charged HST?
For an order to be shipped tax exempt, the purchaser must have an exempt status and the shipment must be made to a First Nations reserve. Proof of the tax exempt status (in the form of a photocopy) can be sent with the original purchase. The photocopy will then be retained on file for future purchases. You can also include the registry number or the band name and family number (commonly known as the band number) on the order form. If you qualify for a tax exempt purchase, just disregard the HST box on the order form. Simply carry the Total # 2 to the Grand Total box.
