What are the requirements for entry into the McCoy College for freshmen (students with fewer than 30 hours)?
The competitive admission index is based on a student’s high school academic record, standardized test score (SAT or ACT), or a combination of the two. Students are automatically admitted when their SAT score is 1200 or greater, when their ACT score is 27 or greater, or when they graduated in the top 25% of a Texas high school graduating class. All other applicants will be considered for the remaining openings through a review process. Students who are admitted to the University but denied admission to a business degree program will be considered for admission to their second choice major or as undeclared. Students choosing to be undeclared may receive advising from the University College Advising Center in anticipation of re-applying to the McCoy College. See “when and where to apply” below for more details on the application process for both current Texas State students and students not yet admitted to Texas State.
