There are no hard and fast rules about this. You should certainly have completed several philosophy classes so that you have some basis for deciding that philosophy is right for you. A good rule of thumb is that you should have fulfilled at least two of the lower-division required courses (12A, 25A, 25B). Transfer students should have taken at least two philosophy classes at their other institutions.
