What are the requirements for applying to the Alternate Route?
o Hold a bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university o Have a 2.75 GPA (a 2.5 prior to September 2004 is acceptable) o Pass the Praxis II in the area in which one plans to teach o Apply through the county office of education for a Certificate of Eligibility [CE]. A CE will allow a candidate to seek employment o Once hired the candidate is required to complete 200 hours of formal teaching classes within the first year at a Regional Training Center.
