What are the requirements for a Homestead Exemption?
You are entitled to a Homestead Exemption if, as of January 1st of the year for which you are applying, (1)you are a permanent resident of Florida, (2) you hold legal title to your property, (3) the instrument by which you hold title is recorded in the official records of Sarasota County, and (4) you reside thereon and in good faith make the same your permanent residence, or the permanent residence of another or others legally or naturally dependent upon you.
