What are the religious ceremonies done by the sioux indians?
I don’t know about the Soux tribe but I do know the Blackfeet Tribe who are neighbors to the Soux and have some of the same types of traditions and cultures. First many natives believe that we are connected to all things. The earth and everything in it, the sky and all that it has, the water and everything in it. The Creator who made everything connected us to each and everything and every body and thus we should respect all things. In our tribe we believe that we have a special connection to certain spirits or energies and at the age of our becoming a man we go to seek a vision. There is a time of fasting and prayer and we go out alone and seek what will guide us through life. Thus, we may see a dream or vision about such things as bears, eagles, hawks, wolves, lions, praire chickens, dogs, or rocks, mountains, trees, fish, hides, or there things.
