What are the relationships between science and worldviews?

0

As individuals and in groups, we have a worldview — our view of the world, used for living in the world — that includes our views of nature and science. We want all of our ideas to be consistent, and this leads to mutual influences between worldviews and science, and adjustments of ideas: • Science is influenced by worldviews and related factors (personal desires, group pressures, cultural thinking habits, ideologies,…) that operate in a complex social context in individuals and in groups. { I think we should recognize these influences, and try to minimize their effects on the process and conclusions of science; we should challenge the extreme skepticism of postmodern relativists when they claim that these influences diminish the overall credibility of science and the reliability of scientific conclusions, as in young-earth criticisms of historical science; but we should carefully consider the potential influence of naturalistic assumptions.
