CAHPS surveys are typically administered through mail, telephone, or a mixed mode of mail with telephone follow-up. The CAHPS Consortium recommends these modes because they have been proven to achieve comparable survey results. The Consortium is currently investigating the feasibility and impact of using other modes to administer the survey, including Web-based administration.
