What are the reasons for female hair loss?
Heredity, hormones and age cause hair loss. A woman’s genetic makeup determines if hair follicles are sensitive to the hormone dihydrotestosterone (DHT) causing the follicles to shrink. This “shrinkage” results in overall thinning with time. In addition, the aging process can weaken the hair follicle and consequently the hair shaft. This causes permanent hair thinning and balding.
