you can only get stem cells from embryos (and bone marrow) with cells that have not yet specialized, so the embryo is about a few days old. if the embryos are used for research then a potential baby is being destroyed. It is bad because some beleive in ethical issues surrounding this topic, you are effectively murdering a potential human being.
