What are the real weave poles in agility made of?
Most organizations I compete in regulate the size, length of the weave poles, not the material. I’ve seen some that are PVC, others that are wooden, others that are metal. The easiest to use is PVC piping. Get a PVC cutter and it’s a breeze. If you use a PVC base, then you can angle the poles to create a channel which builds speed (which is good for the weaves). Or you can guy or create a metal base (lots of variations there). Or get a metal spike for the bottom and use stick-in-the-ground weave poles with your PVC. I’ve have 2 sets of 12 weave poles (yeah, I’m addicted–talk to any serious agility competitor and they’ll tell you they’ve got a lot of equipment even if they don’t have a backyard to train in). One has a metal base, the other PVC but both have PVC poles. they don’t rust or warp, are lightweight. If you have a big dog (lab, BC), you’ll likely want a metal base. But a dog with that kind of size and strength will tilt the poles with his tail as he goes through and every weav
