What are the re-zoning specifications/requirements?
Aviza has begun the process of applying to re-zone our property for residential use. As the first part of this process, Aviza was required to submit a preliminary review application for re-zoning the land. In turn, the City will take the application through its processes, which could include: Planning, City Council and public forum reviews. This preliminary application was presented in the July 18th city council meeting. The meeting was to provide the council with several different housing options. They are shown under housing on this web site. The city council looked at these options and commented on the proposal, but no decision were made as the hearing was only a preliminary review. The biggest issue the city has is the loss of revenue from Aviza which has been averaging around $60,000 per year.
