What are the qualifications to run for office?
To be eligible for the office of Mayor or City Council, a person must be at least twenty-one (21) years of age, must meet the requirements of a qualified elector for members of the General Assembly as prescribed by state law, must be a registered voter in the City of Fayetteville and must be a bona fide resident of the City of Fayetteville for one (1) year preceding the time of the holding of the election in which a candidate. No person shall be eligible to serve as a Mayor or City Council who shall have been convicted of a crime involving moral turpitude unless such person has received a full pardon and has all rights of citizenship restored.
