What are the qualifications to become a Lateral Lacey Police Officer?
A. The following are a list of requirements: US citizen; high school graduate; possess a valid US driver’s license at time of application and must be able to obtain a valid Washington state driver’s license at time of appointment; read and write the English language; pass psychological, polygraph, medical and physical agility tests; pass a thorough background investigation (driving record, work history, credit history, conviction/arrest record, reference check, drug history). Have been employed as a sworn law enforcement officer within the last 12 months with a minimum of one year of continuous experience as a full-time commissioned police officer in a public law enforcement agency. Have graduated from the Washington Training Commission Basic Academy. Applicants who have graduated from an accredited law enforcement academy in another state must pass the Washington State Equivalency Examination within 12 months of hire. Q.
