Originally when my dad when in which was in 1970, you needed to either have a Law Degree or you had to be a CPA, however, now you must only have your Masters Degree and it can be in anything. In order to become an FBI “Special Agent” you must pass a background check, polygraph, multiple interviews, psychological testings and screening and multiple physical fitness evaluations. On average the FBI gets around 3,000 applications a year of which generally about 80 are chosen. You go to Quantico, VA where the National Academy is located and that is where the 6 month field training takes place. You must pass everything while at the academy and there are usually 5 or 6 people that do not make it through the training period. The FBI does not have a Homicide division, per se. Unless you are assigned to a specific division due to your college background or language skills you go to one of the field offices in the US.
