What are the qualifications for entry to the EMU teacher preparation program?
At EMU, students are not admitted to the Initial Teacher Preparation Program as freshmen. To be admitted, students must have: • Completed at least 56 credits, including at least 12 at EMU. • An EMU GPA 2.50 overall. • An EMU GPA of 2.50 in major. If 3 minors—Average must be 2.5. • If the following courses have been completed before admission to the Initial Teacher Preparation Program, students must have earned a C or higher in order to be admitted. If completed after admission, students must still earn a C or higher. Elementary: ENGL 121, CTAS 121/124, MATH 108, MATH 110E, All Science Requirements, EDPS 322, and SPGN 251. Secondary: ENGL 121, CTAS 121/124, MATH requirement, Science requirements, EDPS 322, and SPGN 251. • Students must have passed all 3 parts of Michigan Basic Skills test with a score of 220 or higher.
