What are the qualifications for child care staff and case aides?
The department requires child care staff and case aides: (1) Be at least twenty-one years old; (2) Exception: Child care staff may be eighteen to twenty years old if enrolled and participating in an internship or practicum program with an accredited college or university; and supervised by staff twenty-one years or older; (3) Have a high school diploma or GED; (4) Have one year of experience working with children; (5) Have the skills and abilities to work successfully with the challenging behaviors of children in care; and (6) Have effective communication and problem solving skills.
