• a Canadian Citizen; • at least 18 years of age on the day of the election; • an actual resident in the School Division for a period of at least six months at the day of the election (since December 24, 2007); and • not disqualified under any other provision of The Public Schools Act or any other legislation, and is not otherwise by law prohibited from being a trustee or from voting at elections in the School Division. NOTE: • Candidates for School Trustee do not have to reside in the Ward of the School Division in which they are seeking election, but must be a resident elector of that School Division. • An employee of the same school board, school division or district must take a leave of absence to serve as a trustee. • No pupil in regular attendance at school shall be a trustee of the school division of which he/she is a pupil.
