DOJ Certified Instructor applicants must be legally eligible to possess firearms in California. A background check is performed on all DOJ Certified Instructor applicants. DOJ Certified Instructor applicants also must possess certification to provide firearms training from one of the entities detailed in Penal Code section 12804(j).
