What are the prospects for the flower industry?
I see a bright future for the industry. For example, Holland’s and Israel’s flower industries are declining at the moment. So, flower growers from those countries will eventually come here to invest in the sector that they know how to do best. This will open the door for the successive unprecedented growth of the sector. The production sites must be more diversified to Amhara, SNNP, and Dire Dawa and to other regions. For instance, a new farm in Bahirdar will start exporting soon while two other projects in Tigray will start exporting within a year. On the other hand, so far, we have been exporting our products through air transportation but it is high time we looked into water as a different means of transportation.
