What are the prospects for a career as a forensic science technician?
Employment of forensic science technicians is expected to grow much faster than average for all professions, increasing 31% from 2006 to 2016 (1). The increase of the application of forensic science to prevent, investigate, and resolve crime will drive job growth. Job prospects are expected to be good especially for forensic science technicians that work for state and county crime labs. Many job openings will also stem from the need to replace forensic science technicians that retire, transfer, or leave the field for other reasons.
