What are the pros & cons of marrying someone that is an illegal immigrant?
when you marry an illegal immigrant, its not for your own benefit, and not a matter of weighing the pros and cons of the actual act of marrying that person. its because you love them, like any other marriage, and you want the best for this person. its a long a difficult road that will test the relationship to the fullest, and if you have to ask yourself those question above then you shouldn’t be marrying that person love is giving someone the power to hurt you, and trusting them not to.
There are no pros other than you love them and have to be with them. First of all, you can’t fix their status so make sure they know that. They won’t believe you- everyone both sides of the border thinks all you have to do is marry and you are both legal in both countries. NOT. Go talk to an attorney with them. Second, what will you/ they do when they are deported? (I’m living in Mexico.) Third, talk to their family (mom is best) in Mexico and ask them straight up if there is a wife or kids. Lots of guys think they can have a wife in both places. Fourth, wait, ’cause if you don’t know the answer to whether it is love or politics you don’t know them well enough or long enough. If you have been together less than a year, don’t do it. If the marriage goes bad, the worst case scenario is if you have kids together. The only way to prevent that is not be with them, don’t get divorced or don’t have kids.
