What are the Pros and Cons of a K3 visa?
On the Up side: 1. Your Husband/wife can travel anywhere, anytime, multiple entry visa (This sounds nice, but trust me, most of the POE don’t know what a K3 visa is, they have to ask a supervisor, they get it confused with a K1 all the time) 2. You may get your interview 2 months faster than if you waited for a CR interview 3. You can bring children as a derivative of the K3 On the Down side: 1. You must file for Adjustment of Status $1010.00 plus $600 for each child 2. You must wait until you have filed the AOS with the EAD to get their social security card 3. If children have accompanied the parent, you must file an I-130 ($355.00) for each child at the time you file the AOS (I-485) 4. Unlike a K1, you must have the full I-693 medical report to accompany the I-485 5. You must have the I-693A vaccination record for the above, including children 6. Your life is still on hold until you get the EAD, then its possible to get the SS and drivers license, start school, etc.
