What are the pros and cons for fake plants and real plants in a freshwater tank?
Fake plants: Pros: Easier to take care of than real plants Cheap and easy to find Cons: Can look fake Some fish’s fins can get torn on plastic plants Live Plants: Pros: Remove CO2, phosphate, iron, etc from water Provides good hiding spots for fish Some fish prefer to spawn on them Cons: You have to have the correct lighting, CO2, ferts, etc. Not too many varieties in pet stores I’d go with live plants if I were you.
