What are the pros an cons of killing animals?
In today’s time the only pro is food, but some sadistic people do it for fun and do not take the meat, however many, many, many years ago (centuries) we used their fur for clothing to stay warm, and not for style. The con is, by killing them, we are throwing the entire Ecosystem out of whack, one such story of this happening was where the wolves were killing the deer, so the hunters all got together and killed as many wolves as they could, then the deer population count exploded and they went past the maximum population density, they started running out of food, and most died from starvation.
I am a hunter and angler. I hunt deer, turkey, and gamebird (pheasant, quail, etc.). I also fish quite a bit. We of course keep the meat for ourselves and also share it with friends and family. In the area where I live deer populations are very high and the need for hunting is apparent. The main reason I hunt is the connection with nature, I get to spend time outside enjoying the wildlife (both game and non-game) and the day. For me and most hunters its not about killing something, its about the challenge. I have been turkey hunting for 3 years now and I have not killed a turkey, yet I keep hunting for the challenge. I also like knowing where my food is coming from. When you buy meat in the grocery store it comes from factory farms in many cases. When I hunt for my meat I know that the animal has lived a good life and has not been pumped full of steroids and chemicals.
