What are the proper technique in weighing object using platform beam balance??
First a couple of simple rules: (1) Never measure the mass of anything that is not at room temperature. (2) Solid objects can measured directly in the balance, but liquids and powders or crystals must always be measured in a container or on weighing paper. Step (1): Check Zero Move all beam riders to the zero position and make sure the pointer swings to the “zero” position. If it does not, change the position of the zero adjustment screw until it does. If you are using weighing paper, some labs will have you zero the balance with the weighing paper in place. Step (2): Place the object to be measured on the balance pan or platform. For the most accurate work, never touch the object directly with your fingers. Step (3): Starting with the heaviest (largest) rider, move the rider until the pointer drops below the zero mark and then move back one notch. When you get to the lightest (smallest) rider, move it until the pointer is exactly at the zero mark. Step (4): Add the mass measured by ea
