Patriarchal attitudes continue to exist among health care professionals, although it is changing6. There seems to be a true lack of training in how to help patients care for themselves and how to bridge partnerships with them to encourage the appropriate use of their own research, expertise, and wisdom6, 7. Moreover, health professionals often underestimate patients desire for and ability to utilize medical information. There is always the question of when does the information become too much?
