Operations involving non-friable ACM include cutting of transited pipe, removal of asbestos-containing ceiling texture, plaster, drywall compound and roofing materials. For work on non-friable ACM that is done with power tools that are not attached to dust-collecting devices equipped with HEPA filters, an enclosure of polyethylene or other suitable material must be constructed, unless walls already enclose the work area. The entrances and exits to the enclosure must be fitted with curtains made of polyethylene or other suitable material that is impervious to asbestos, on each side (see below) and, if the enclosure is opaque, it must be fitted with one or more transparent windows to allow observation of the entire work area from outside the enclosure. These requirements apply whether the work is done indoors or outdoors.
